ride this morning. there is barely any traffic. the final stop would be the golden gate bridge where the traffic on 1 01 southbound is moving at the limit the traffic is streaming into san francisco and is moving without any issues. we will keep track of this and latino there any hot spots. >> well today is the day. twitter will be trading publicly on the new york stock exchange. a price of 26-dollars a share has been set for its initial public offering of stock. the san francisco-based company is offering 70- million shares in the i-p-o. plus an option to buy another 10-point-5 billion. it is set to begin trading under the symbol t-w-t-r. this is the most anticipated i-p-o since facebook went public in 20-12. and the dow starts trading at another record high this morning. here's a look at yesterday's closing numbers. the dow rose 128 points beating the record it set

last tuesday. the nasdaq fell eight points. and the s-and-p 500 rose seven points. opening bell at 6:30. >> new this morning. in san jose, dozens of police officers are being put on patrol to reduce response time for emergency calls. the program is known as flex car staffing. it involves 78 officers within the police department. each officer is required to work one 10 hour day a month in a patrol car over the next three months. they still need to take care of their regular workload as well. san jose police need more officers on patrol as the department continues to experience depletions in its ranks. >> we are getting more information about the san francisco sheriff's department's search for lynne spalding at san francisco general hospital. sheriff ross mirkarimi went through the list of things that went wrong during the

17 day search for the spalding. the troubles started when deputies got a report patient at wandered off. the deputy in charge did not consider this a missing person's case. and information was not passed on to the next deputies on shift. then the sheriff said hospital staff mis- identified spalding -- who is white--- first as african american, and then as asian in hospital logs. when a deputy went to look at security footage the cameras did not work. finally, as for the report that a still unidentified man saw a body in the stairwell and told a staff member. deputies did nothing about it. an francisco's sheriff revealing the department's incomplete search for lynne spalding --- the female patient whose body was found in a stairwell at san francisco general hospital. >> and the staff was directed to search the campus. it did not include the stairwells. they stated that they would take care of it. there was no indication that anyone was dispatched to go to the stairwell. >> sheriff ross mirkarimi admits, his department made

mistakes during the search for spalding. line >> kron 4 received this statement from san francisco general hospital officials. it says, this was their first opportunity to learn details of the sheriff's investigation. the director of health said - quote - "it must be difficult for lynne spalding's family and friends to hear of today's news. we owe it to them and to all of our current and future patients, to strengthen our security services." >> a hearing will be held today in response to the deaths of two bart track inspectors. they were struck by a train

>> welcome back. southern californians from santa barbara to san diego have reported seeing a fireball that forecasters said was most likely a meteor streaking across the sky. the national weather service says the sightings reported starting at about 8 p.m. wednesday night are most likely associated with the south taurids meteor shower that has been especially active in early november. astronomers say the taurids don't bring big numbers of visible meteors but a high percentage of extremely bright ones that look like fireballs. >> the time is 4:15 a.m.. >> it is 59 degrees right now in san francisco. 49 in

drugs and services. >> a shootout at a detroit a barbershop least two dead and eight others wounded. police in detroit say they are not sure if the barbershops reputation for gambling had anything to do with the shooting. police say that two cars pulled up to al's the barbershop and people inside the vehicle started shooting at each other. >> the los angeles city council has taken aim against "swatting" - the prank of calling in phony emergencies that has sent police swat teams to the homes of celebrities and others. the council on wednesday approved a measure allowing rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the pranksters. in april, phony 911 calls sent police to the homes of rihanna, justin timberlake and selena gomez. >>

the transportation security administration officer killed by a rampaging gunman at los angeles international airport is being honored at the place where he died. gerardo hernandez was remembered wednesday by tsa officers, police officers and others who lined the airport walkways. an honor guard and bagpipers escorted a special u.s. honor flag flown in from texas. the flag will be used at hernandez's funeral. a motorcade circled the airport's main road twice. hernandez is the first tsa officer killed in the line of duty. the 39-year-old father of two was shot in an attack friday that wounded two others tsa officers and at least one bystander. the alleged gunman, paul ciancia, was wounded by airport police and remains hospitalized. authorities say he was targeting tsa >> all 55 democrats in the senate and several republicans are expected to vote yes today on a bill that would make it illegal for employers in the united states to discriminate against gay, bisexual and trans and gender workers. the republican-led house is

plus an option for you to buy another 10.5 billion. this is set to begin trading under the symbol twtr, shore for twitter this is the most anticipated ipo since facebook went public in 2012. >> the menlo park police department announced today that it is seeking a specific witness who may have watched a grisly fatal drunken driving accident last month that claimed the lives of a menlo park couple out walking their dog. menlo park traffic sgt. sharon kaufman is seeking the cooperation of a white male that was driving a white ford explorer on oct. 24 around 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of the crash on chilco street. it is believed that this individual may have witnessed the entire event, according to kaufman. marjorie reitzell, 54, of redwood city, has been arrested in connection with the accident. san mateo county prosecutors said that after a day of heavy drinking, reitzell veered her car onto a paved shoulder of the road, where her vehicle plowed into kamal singh, 45, and balbir singh, 50, who were out walking their chihuahua. the couple leaves behind three teenaged

children. prosecutors say reitzell then ran her vehicle into a car occupied by four teenagers, causing them minor injuries, before striking a tree. she has been charged with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and two felony counts of driving while under the influence causing injury, according to the san mateo county district attorney's office. reitzell will be in court thursday to enter a plea. >> in the meantime, she is being held on the san mateo county jail on $2 million bail. anyone who might have witnessed this incident is asked to contact sgt. kaufman with the menlo park police department at 330-6343. >> community members are rallying around a high school senior who was badly burned as he slept in the back of an ac transit. the victim is 18-year-old luke "sasha" fleischman who attends berkeley's maybeck high school. the teen suffered severe second- and third-degree burns in the fire and will need several surgeries. hundreds of supporters have raised more than $21- thousand dollars to help with medical costs. police say a 16-year-old boy lit fleischman on fire as he slept toward the rear of a bus. passengers saw the fire and

road that will bring it to the board of supervisors and the discussions will begin. >> a test released showed that a child care worker in morgan hill had a blood alcohol level of point- three-zero. while working with children. 58-year-old anna marie lopez, of gilroy, was arrested about 8 -o'clock monday morning and charged with one- count of felony child endangerment. parents dropping off their children at the p.a. walsh child development center told police that lopez was 'non responsive' and disoriented. officials say lopez's blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit to drive. >> 0.3 would be the amount of alcohol in her bloodstream. this is someone who was driving under the influence. this will be someone at a 0.08. she was almost four times that limit of someone bent under the influence of alcohol driving a vehicle. >> lopez, as reported by parents, had trouble speaking and fumbled with

>> with investors and analysts watching closely, the government is releasing a report this morning that estimates how much the economy grew in the third quarter. experts think growth likely slowed a bit in the quarter that began in july and ended on sept. 30. they say the commerce department report on the gross domestic product is likely to show that the economy grew at a modest 2 percent annual rate. economists are hopeful that the impact on business growth of washington's political quarrels may soon ease, clearing the way for stronger growth next year. >> electric car maker tesla motors has a battery problem. it doesn't have enough of them. that's one reason the high- flying company's shares fell 14.5 percent wednesday, their sharpest drop in almost two years. ceo elon musk on tuesday blamed a shortage of lithium-ion battery cells for trouble meeting demand for tesla's lone vehicle, the model s. some cars that could have been sold in north america were diverted to europe to satisfy waiting customers. there won't be any relief until next year, when a deal to get more batteries from supplier panasonic kicks in. >>

morning. the dramatic spike in car thefts and san leandro. police say in the past we close to two dozen cars have been reported stolen. overall from year to year, police say car thefts are down. but in the past seven days 21 cars have been reported stolen in san leandro. and, the most popular model cars that these are targeting police say are honda civics and accords. police said thieves may feel more comfortable with honda's ignition system leading to one reason they are often targeted.
